Structural/Seismic Engineer – West Coast
LOCATION: Southern California/Seattle, Washington
SUMMARY:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The qualified candidate will have requisite structural engineering design, evaluation, risk assessment, and/or forensic experience, and be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE). This position provides the opportunity for management of multiple concurrent projects with a minimum of oversight. This individual would be joining and working with our experienced group of engineers, all prepared to provide the necessary training and mentoring to create a successful career opportunity for any interested candidate.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Prepare ASTM E2026-16a compliant Seismic Risk Assessments for existing buildings
- Communicate the findings and opinions of Seismic Risk Assessments to clients
- Discuss and develop solutions for recognized seismic vulnerabilities
- Work with a team to prepare structural engineering design solutions for seismic retrofit, structural rehabilitation and tenant improvement projects, mostly in the western US
- Perform due diligence structural condition assessments of existing properties throughout the lower 48 states
- Work from a remote-home setting with organizational support
Our business provides the opportunity to travel with the ability to experience a variety of regions in the United States, while assessing buildings of varied age and construction type. Travel is mostly a mix of local day trips with regional overnight air travel. All airline/hotel reward benefits are recouped by the employee.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s degree in appropriate engineering discipline (e.g. Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); or Structural Engineer (SE)
- Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering experience
- Familiarity with seismic design building code provisions, both national and regional building codes, particularly in California, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, and Washington
- Prior Seismic Risk Assessment experienced is very desirable, but not required.
- Prior design experience is desired, particularly with wood frame and concrete structures
- Independently problem solve and work autonomously with a sense of urgency
- Conduct yourself with business integrity
- Embrace humility and teamwork
- Exceptional writing, grammatical and verbal communication skills
- Advanced computer literacy
- Ability to meet deadlines without exception
